In Egerie, you will follow a neurotic young man who seeks serenity in a swimming pool and meets a rather special young woman.

Egerie is a self-produced film that I made as an amateur with a small team during my final year of high school. It was the end-of-year project for my film and audiovisual studies course.

My work on the
project

For this project, which explored the theme of the gaze, I handled almost everything: the script, the storyboard, location scouting, casting, costumes, filming, editing, and music.

It was an enriching experience, fostering both independence and teamwork. It was my first opportunity to create such a comprehensive personal project, allowing me to be a jack-of-all-trades and experiment on every level.

For the execution, I drew heavily on liminal aesthetics, internet culture, and swimming pool aesthetics. The goal was for the setting to serve the narrative: a nostalgic yet unsettling introspection on oneself, one's identity, desires, and free will.

The film also provided an opportunity to shoot in unusual locations such as a swimming pool or in an urban exploration setting.

On the editing side, this project allowed me to experience Vegas Pro to its full potential. I also learned how to work with rotoscoping for a scene combining animation. I also honed my skills in cuts, audio mixing, and color grading.

The music, composed with another artist, was created with the aim of immersing the viewer in the story by evoking a melancholic and nostalgic aspect.
